Message Well I know that Apex-i filters do that on any set up.
We have had the same problems out of them on DOOLZ and dual-pop. We quit selling those filters, because of that and we do not recommend using them if your car ever gets wet.

As far as the other issues the DOOLZ do require something in front of them so they are not in direct airflow like that small splashsheild that attaches to the stock airbox. The Dual-pop set-ups need the same but they just don't purtrude down into the open airflow as much. We have installed almost countless DOOLZ and Dual-pop set-ups. The DOOLZ has definite advantages if installed correctly. In back to back dyno testing on cars in the 500rwhp range they make the smae power for all practical purposes (which seems to be 20-30 hp over a single pop) but the DOOLZ definitely give us more consistent A/F curves. Not to mention the DOOLZ doesn't require the cumbersome low speed driveability kit

I will say that on an NA or even a Stock TT the DOOLZ or a Dual pop set-up is uneccesary. We beleive the DOOLZ beats conventional dual pop set-ups hands down as long as you keep it pulled up and sheild it from the turbulent airflow.
The filter issue is independent of which intake you are using.
